Patagonian Mara
Classification | Habitat | Diet |
Rodentia > Caviidae | Rocky wastelands, deserts | Hay, fruits, vegetables |
Part rabbit, part elk or mule deer with its large ears,
the Patagonian mara is the fourth largest rodent in the world,
after the capybara, beaver and hogan.
With four front toes and three back toes,
they are distantly related to guinea pigs and capybaras.
They are very shy, so be careful what you say and do around maras.
