Capybara
Classification | Habitat | Diet |
Rodentia > Caviidae | The warm waters of the Amazon River | Herbivorous, including grasses, aquatic plants, and fruits |
The capybara is the largest rodent in the world,
which is why it is called the "world's largest mouse".
It is very laid-back and gentle, so it gets along well with other animals.
Capybaras are also nicknamed "water pigs" because they love to be in the water.
They have webbed feet and are excellent swimmers.
Have you ever seen a capybara poop in the water?
Doing their business underwater eliminates odors,
so when they were on the run from their predators,
they built a toilet in the safety of the water.
